Ibiza's Hidden Gem: Lovely Dependance You NEED to See!
Ibiza's Hidden Gem: Forget the Clubs (For a Bit!) - This Place is Actually Heaven
Okay, let's be real. Ibiza. You think thumping bass, hordes of sweaty bodies, and… well, you get the picture. But GUESS WHAT? There's a side to Ibiza that's… actually relaxing. And I just stumbled upon it. Seriously, stumbled. Google searches didn't quite prepare me for Ibiza's Hidden Gem: Lovely Dependance You NEED to See! – and now I'm desperate to get the word out. Because this place? This place is special.
First, before I get lost in the fluffy bathrobes and the infinity pool (yes, there's an infinity pool!), a disclaimer: I AM NOT a travel blogger. I’m just a chick who needed a serious escape from life, and this place… this place got me. Prepare for a review that’s more, well, me than a sterile, bullet-point list.
The Vibe: Relaxed Perfection (Almost)
From the moment you arrive, you feel it. A deep breath. The sun on your skin. Okay, the drive there was a bit… winding. My GPS took me down a dirt track that I swear was only meant for goats. But hey, it’s part of the charm, right? (And the car park [free of charge] was a HUGE relief after that hairy moment!)
Accessibility & Safety - Because We Need This Now:
Accessibility: The website promised (Facilities for disabled guests) and delivered. I didn't personally need these, but I saw ramps, elevators (Elevator), and what seemed like carefully considered accommodations. That's a big win for inclusivity.
Cleanliness & Safety: (BIG WIN!)
I’m a bit of a germaphobe these days (thanks, 2020!), so this was HUGE for me. They've clearly taken COVID protocols seriously. Anti-viral cleaning products, daily disinfection in common areas, and rooms sanitized between stays? Yup. Check, check, and check. I even saw them using professional-grade sanitizing services. You know when a place smells clean, not just like they sprayed a can of Lysol? THAT. Plus, Staff trained in safety protocol made me feel… well, safe. And there’s hand sanitizer everywhere (Hand sanitizer), and the cashless payment service was super convenient. They even had individually-wrapped food options. Okay, cool, now I can actually just, you know, BE here.
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking: Food Coma Incoming (In the Best Way)
Okay, confession time. I gained three pounds. But it was worth it. Seriously.
- Breakfast [buffet]: They do a breakfast buffet that’s… well, it's legendary. Okay, not legendary, but it felt like it after the day. They had everything you could possibly want: International cuisine in restaurant, Western breakfast, Asian breakfast (surprise!), fresh fruit, pastries, and the coffee was actually good. (The Coffee/tea in restaurant was never-ending).
- Restaurants & Bars: I can tell you though, eating there was a treat. They have an A la carte in restaurant, and the restaurant is gorgeous. The food was good, some days better than others, but who cares. The mood, the view, that's what I am here for. They have a Poolside bar as well, and I became quite friendly with the bartender. Even though I hate to admit it, I was enjoying the Happy hour.
- Room Service: They even have 24-hour Room service [24-hour]!. Which if you're like me, and enjoy a late-night snack, it is the best.
The Core of the Experience: Pure Bliss (Mostly)
Let's talk relaxation. This is where this place really shines. I spent a solid chunk of my time by the Swimming pool [outdoor] (the one with the view from the pictures… Yes, it’s as good as it looks!), but my big splurge-or-something was the spa!
The Spa Experience: Diving Deep into Luxury (And Trying Not to Fall Asleep)
Oh, the spa. The Spa! Look, I love a good massage, but this was on another level. My therapist (who was clearly a sorceress in disguise) worked magic on my knotted shoulders. I also had a Body scrub and Body wrap which were utterly divine. I also spent a solid chunk of time in the Sauna and Steamroom, not to mention the Foot bath, which was a surprise treat!. Honestly, the Spa was so good I almost booked a second one the next day. Then again, If I could do it all over again, I'd just go for the full experience. Okay, yes, I was sold. The Spa/sauna package is worth every single penny.
The Rooms: Comfort, Comfort, and More Comfort!
I had a Non-smoking room (thank goodness!), and it was… perfect. Seriously. There's Air conditioning (essential!), a Blackout curtains (even more essential!), a Minibar (double-check!), and an In-room safe box (always a plus). The bed? Like sleeping on a cloud. They have Bathrobes and Slippers! I lived in the Bathrobes, I kid you not. The Internet access – wireless (aka Wi-Fi [free]) was super-fast, so I could actually upload Instagram stories (and not just those blurry, buffering ones). I loved having a Balcony but I never opened the Window that opens.
Things to Do (Besides Absolutely Nothing):
Okay, I did some things, besides just chilling. I strolled around the grounds, which are beautiful. There's a Fitness center if you're feeling energetic (I visited it), and the concierge (Concierge) was incredibly helpful in pointing me towards some local beaches. And there's a Convenience store if you forget essentials (ahem, like chips). The Kids meal also was a treat!
Services and Conveniences: They Thought of Everything!
Seriously, this place is loaded with things to make your life easier. Daily housekeeping (thank you!), a Laundry service (because, let's face it, I'm messy), and a Luggage storage service so I could keep my stuff in a safe and tidy place. I even had someone do Ironing service!
Getting Around:
You can’t be in Ibiza (or in “Car park [on-site]” for that matter), without a way of getting around. I used the Taxi service, but I know that they had Airport transfer.
The Tiny Quirks (Because Nobody's Perfect):
- The Internet [LAN] might be less-than-stellar.
- The TV remote took some figuring out.
- I wish I could remember to take a picture of those Additional toilet.
The Verdict: Go. Just Go.
I'm not going to say this is the perfect place because, honestly? Perfection is boring. But Ibiza's Hidden Gem: Lovely Dependance You NEED to See! is damn close. I went needing a break, and I came back feeling… well, human again. Refreshed. And already plotting my return trip.
Final Score: 4.8 out of 5 (that's a 5 after a few glasses of wine).

Luxury Nieuwpoort Beach Apartment: Sleeps 4!
Alright, buckle up buttercups, because this itinerary is less a meticulously planned vacation and more a… well, a vibe. Welcome to Ibiza, baby, but not the glitzy, Instagram-filtered version. We're plunging headfirst into the real Ibiza – the sun-kissed, slightly-salty, probably-hungover Ibiza. And as your self-appointed, slightly-scattered guide, I’m promising you glorious chaos and maybe some enlightenment, sprinkled with a healthy dose of questionable decisions. Let’s do this.
Day 1: Arrival, Disorientation, and the Pursuit of Paella (Spoiler: It’s a Struggle)
- 10:00 AM: Land at Ibiza Airport (IBZ). Already feeling a little…disoriented. The air smells of freedom and sunscreen, and I'm pretty sure I saw a woman in a full sequined jumpsuit. This is a good sign. Or a sign I need more coffee.
- 10:30 AM: Pick up the rental car. Pray it's not a tiny Smart Car. (It's not, thankfully - a slightly beat-up Fiat Panda affectionately nicknamed "The Sardine"). Driving on the wrong side of the road is HARD when you're jet-lagged. Managed not to kill anyone, miraculously.
- 11:30 AM: Arrive at Lovely Dependance. Okay, "lovely" might be stretching it. It’s a charming, slightly-rustic villa. The pool, however, is gorgeous, sparkling invite of all the sun and fun to follow - even though there are a few rogue leaves floating around like confetti after a bad party. Unpack, assess damage (mostly to my packing skills – I swear I packed an entire shoe store!). The view. Oh. My. God. I could look at that azure sea for hours.
- 1:00 PM: The Paella Quest Begins. Stumble into Sant Antoni de Portmany, eyes peeled for a truly authentic paella experience. This should be easy, right? Wrong. The first place looked…well, let’s just say the paella seemed to have been born in a microwave. The second place? Closed. The third? Tourist trap alert, flashing neon signs. I almost cried. Hangry is a powerful force.
- 4:00 PM: Success! (Maybe). Found a tiny, unassuming restaurant on a side street. The paella?…Edible! And the sangria? Dangerous. We’re on a roll!
- 6:00 PM: Pool time. Bliss. That water is pure magic. I swear, all my stress just melted away. (Except the stress of accidentally almost burning my hand frying some eggs)
- 8:00 PM: Sunset drinks at Cafe Mambo. Yep, touristy, yes, everyone has their phones out, but the sunset is breathtaking. The music is pumping a bit too loud but hey, this is Ibiza, right? The place fills up with people - I mean, PACKS with people - and I almost accidentally bought a stranger a drink.
- 9:30 PM: Dinner and a show, at a restaurant close to the cafe. The people in the restaurant made me fall for the island.
Day 2: Beach Bliss & a Whole Lotta Sunscreen
- 9:00 AM: Wake up. Sunburned. Somehow, despite a liberal application of SPF 50, my shoulders are a shade of lobster I didn't know existed. Blame… well, I blame everything.
- 10:00 AM: Cala Comte beach time. OMG. This is what postcards are made of. Seriously, I can’t even describe it. Turquoise water, powdery sand, and…people. Lots and lots of people. Found a tiny, relatively-empty spot (miracle!).
- 12.00 PM: Snorkelling. The water is so clear, I can see fish! (Tiny, unimpressive fish, but fish nonetheless!). I spent nearly an hour trying to catch it in my Go-Pro (and failing miserably)
- 1:30 PM: Burger and beers at a beach bar. The burger was surprisingly good. The beer? Cold and delicious.
- 3.00 PM: Beach nap. Bliss. Woke up with sand STUCK EVERYWHERE. Still worth it.
- 5:00 PM: Explored the shore and climbed up a small cliff. The ocean is vast and beautiful. Made it back with the help of some kind people.
- 7:00 PM: Another Sunset. Not as 'good' but with a 'different' vibe. This one was in a little cove. People were less worried about their Insta-feeds and just…enjoying it. It felt good.
- 9:00 PM: Dinner and live music in the Old Town (Dalt Vila). Had some tapas at a local spot. Ended up dancing…badly. Still, no regrets.
Day 3: Ibiza Town, Hippy Markets & a Questionable Outfit Choice
- 10:00 AM: Breakfast at home (attempted to make pancakes - disaster. I'm blaming the oven, the lack of decent butter, and the fact that I'm clearly not a morning person.)
- 12:00 PM: Exploring Ibiza Town. The Dalt Vila is stunning, a labyrinth of cobbled streets and charming shops. Got hopelessly lost, which is actually the best way to explore it. Found a tiny artisan shop and bought a necklace that I'm pretty sure I'll never take off.
- 2:00 PM: Lunch - Quick, delicious sandwich at a tiny cafe with a view. Refueling is essential.
- 3:00 PM: Las Dalias Hippy Market. Oh. My. God. The colours! The smells! The people! Bought a beaded bracelet, some incense that smells suspiciously like patchouli and an article of clothing which is not my style.
- 5:00 PM: Another beer, in a totally different location. Spent the time people-watching – a sport I thoroughly enjoy.
- 7:00 PM: Attempted a "chic Ibiza" look. Failed. Miserably. The outfit made me look like I should have been a hippie on the 60s. Gave up and went back to the t-shirts and shorts.
- 9:00 PM: Dinner at a restaurant that was supposed to be "in the in-crowd". It was pretty, the food was pretty, but the vibe was… a bit pretentious. Found myself missing the little hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
Day 4: Boat Trip, the Ultimate Ibiza Experience (and Seasickness!)
- 9:00 AM: Breakfast (toast and coffee. I've learned my lesson. No more kitchen-related adventures).
- 10:00 AM: Boat trip to Formentera! This is what I've been waiting for.
- 10:30 AM: The boat ride was amazing. The turquoise water, the music, the sun on my face… Pure bliss.
- 11:00 AM: The beautiful beaches of Formentera! The sand is like powdered sugar.
- 12:00 PM: Snorkelling. The water is so clear you can see straight to the bottom. I almost saw a giant turtle!
- 1:00 PM: The moment I've been dreading all this time: I ended up sick! I was too ambitious and had too much sun and fun in the sun and seasickness hit HARD.
- 2:00 PM: Feeling better. Ate some bland bread and crackers and spent the time listening to the music.
- 3:00 PM: Beach time. I decided to not swim. I took a walk and watched the waves.
- 4:00 PM: The boat ride back.
- 5:00 PM: Had a delicious drink at the port before returning to the villa.
- 9:00 PM: Dinner and early night, after all of the emotions. I'm exhausted, in a good way.
Day 5: Chasing Waterfalls (Literally and Figuratively)
- 9:00 AM: Woke up feeling like a new person. Fresh and ready for an adventure.
- 10:00 AM: Hike, to see the waterfalls.
- 11:00 AM: Made it to the waterfalls! Even if it was pretty tough, the hike was worth the effort. The water was pristine.
- 1.00 PM: Lunch at a local restaurant. Some amazing paella.
- 3.00 PM: Explored the surrounding area.
- 5.00 PM: Another gorgeous sunset. A little quiet, to end the night.
- 9.00 PM: A walk at the beach.
Day 6: Relax, Refect, and Realise I Don't Want to Leave
- 10:00 AM: Sleep in.
- 12:00 PM: Time at the pool.
- 2.00 PM: Ate at a local restaurant. It's fun to visit, and it

Okay, spill the beans! What *is* this "Hidden Gem" you're raving about?
**BUT... and this is a big but...** Don't expect luxury. Expect authenticity. Expect the best darn paella you'll ever eat (seriously, the *best*). Expect a host who might greet you in his Speedos. Expect a feeling of… well, being invited into someone’s *actual* life, not a carefully constructed tourist fantasy.
Where *exactly* is this secret haven, and how do I even *find* it? You're killing me with the suspense!
**Finding it is half the adventure.** You'll need to do some digging. Ask around. Talk to the locals. Befriend a barman with a twinkle in his eye. Or... slide into my DMs (kidding... mostly). The point is, it's not meant to be easy. That's part of its charm! I actually got lost for HOURS my first time, drove around a field of sunflowers and almost cried from frustration (and the sun!) before finally stumbling upon the place. It was MAGIC!
Just a heads up: GPS won't work well once you get close. You will need REAL directions. Like, "Turn left after the old olive tree with the wonky branch." Or "Look for the sign that *used* to say 'Casa Escondida', but is now mostly just a faded blue rectangle".
What's the accommodation like? Is it a palace, a shack... or something in between?
There might be some quirks. Like, the shower pressure could be a *bit* weak (embrace it!), and the Wi-Fi… well, let's just say it forces you to unplug. But honestly, after the first five minutes of internet withdrawal (me, panicking at 3am, searching for a working hotspot!), you'll LOVE it. You're there to *escape*, right?
Oh! And the beds! They’re unbelievably comfortable. Like, sink-into-them-and-never-leave comfortable. I spent an entire afternoon just lounging in mine with a book. Pure bliss.
What's the food situation? Are we talking Michelin star, or "cook-it-yourself" mayhem?
Sometimes there are shared meals (bring your appetite!), sometimes you will have your own dinner. The host might grill for you. Or, occasionally, there might be a proper feast – think a whole roasted pig (yes, really!), accompanied by raucous laughter, impromptu singing, and maybe, *just maybe*, a bit too much sangria. I tell you, I ate so much that first night. I felt utterly wretched... in the BEST way. I thought I would die, but the next day I was fresh and ready for more.
**Important note:** Dietary restrictions? Discuss them *before* you arrive. The host is accommodating, but spontaneity is part of the vibe, you know? No one likes a hangry travel companion.
What is there *to do* besides eat, sleep, and (presumably) bask in the sun?
* **Explore the island:** The host knows all the best secret beaches, the hidden coves, the places that haven't been overrun by hordes of tourists. * **Wander the local markets:** Pick up some artisan goods, sample the local produce. * **Sunset watching (duh!):** Find a perfect spot and get ready for the show. * **Embrace the nightlife (if you want):** Ibiza is famous for a reason! But Casa Escondida is a perfect base to experience the quietness and the noise of the isle.
The beauty is, there's no pressure. You want to do nothing? Perfect! You want to hike the trails? Great! It's all about finding your rhythm. And chances are you will find something you didn't know you needed. Believe me.
Are there any downsides? Anything I should be prepared for?
* **It's Remote.** If you're someone who thrives on constant stimulation, you might struggle. Embrace the simplicity. Learn to love the quiet. * **You're going to feel a slight… disconnection.** It’s not like a soulless hotel, more like a really generous family member opening their home (and you should respect that, just like with a family member). * **This is NOT a party place.** Casa Escondida is about escaping the madness of Ibiza. If you're looking for non-stop partying, this isn't it. (though, even if you are, it's a brilliant place to recover). * **The host has strong opinions.** He might not agree with you, and that's part of the charm. Be open-minded! You might even end up agreeing with him, eventually.
Look, it's not perfect. It's real. But it's *real* beautiful. Prepare to fall in love. And prepare to never look at Ibiza the same way.
Is it kid-friendly?
